TH15 War Base Guide: Stop Every Meta Attack

← All Guides

Complete TH15 war base design breakdown covering Super Witch, Hydra, and ground army compositions with targeted counter-layouts.

TH15 War Base Overview

TH15 is one of the most populated Town Hall levels in Clash of Clans. War base design differs fundamentally from trophy bases:

  • War base goal: Force a 0-star or 1-star — sacrifice resources, never give up 3 stars
  • Trophy base goal: Accept 2 stars, but stop the 3-star at all costs

Current Meta Attack Compositions

Super Witch + Dragon (Monkey Witch)

Weakness: Relies on a wide funnel — multiple tight compartments break the funnel

Counter layout:

  • Dense inner compartments to trap the funnel
  • Inferno Towers (single-target) on Dragon corridors
  • Skeleton Traps set to Ground mode to distract Witches mid-push

Hydra (Super Dragon + Super Minion)

Weakness: Pure air composition, ground defenses are irrelevant

Counter layout:

  • All Air Defenses pushed into the core
  • Air Bombs layered along common flight paths
  • Scattershot and Monolith prioritized to protect the TH

Yeti + Goblin Ground Army

Weakness: Slow movement, depends on tanky units to open the base

Counter layout:

  • Giant Bombs and Land Mines clustered on the outer ring
  • Skeleton Traps (ground mode) placed beside heroes
  • Scattershot aimed at high-HP ground units

Key Building Placement Priority

BuildingPriorityPlacement
Town Hall 15⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Deep core, 3+ wall layers
Single-target Inferno⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Inner ring, counters tanks
Monolith⭐⭐⭐⭐Near core, range covers full map
Air Defense⭐⭐⭐⭐Evenly distributed, never clustered
Giant Bomb × 4⭐⭐⭐Funnel entry points

Advanced Technique: Anti-Funnel Design

A funnel is the corridor attackers build before pushing the core. Anti-funnel layouts deny this by:

  1. Circular base shape — No obvious corners, forces attackers to deal with all four sides simultaneously
  2. Scattered heroes — Heroes at four corners force troop splitting
  3. Fake core — High-value-looking buildings on the outer edge lure attackers into wasting troops off-path

How to Test Your War Base

After each war:

  1. Watch the attack replays — identify exactly which compartment failed first
  2. Adjust layout to address that specific weakness
  3. Cross-reference with top-rated TH15 war bases on CocBase to find common patterns

Conclusion

There’s no universal war base. The key is continuous iteration. Spend 5 minutes after every war reviewing attack replays, pinpoint the weak spot, and tweak. Layouts that evolve with the meta consistently outperform static ones.
