The complete TH7 base guide for 2026 — anti-Dragon war bases, Dark Elixir farming layouts, and the key design principles every TH7 player needs.

The Best TH7 Base Layouts for 2026: War, Farming & Trophy Strategies Town Hall 7 is where Clash of Clans starts getting competitive. The th7 base meta in 2026 is dominated by mass Dragon attacks, GoWitch combinations, and Balloon-Archer strategies. You now have access to the Barbarian King, the Dark Elixir Drill, and the Archer Tower upgrade that makes your base significantly stronger than TH6. This guide covers everything you need to build a solid TH7 layout for war, farming, and trophy pushing.

What Makes a Strong TH7 Base? Core Design Principles A well-built th7 base in 2026 focuses on one priority above all others: Air Defense placement. At TH7, mass Dragon attacks are the most common strategy you’ll face — and Dragons are only stopped by Air Defenses. Every layout decision at TH7 should start with where your three Air Defenses go. Spread your Air Defenses as far apart as possible. A triangle formation across the full base width forces Dragon attacks to cover maximum ground before destroying all three. Two clustered Air Defenses can be eliminated by a single Rage Spell, opening your base to a clean three-star. The Barbarian King arrives at TH7 and becomes a key defensive anchor. Place his altar in the core of your base, surrounded by at least two wall layers. A Barbarian King that activates Iron Fist while surrounded by your best defenses can stop or severely damage an attacking ground army on its own. Defensive Building Placement Mortars are your primary splash defense at TH7. Place them centrally so their coverage overlaps across multiple compartments. Archer spam and Barbarian rushes that try to trigger your Clan Castle from range get eliminated by overlapping Mortar fire before they can pull out your defensive troops. Air Bombs should be placed just outside your Air Defenses, on the most likely Balloon approach paths. Balloons sent ahead to trigger defenses hit the Air Bombs before reaching the Air Defense, preserving your most critical buildings for as long as possible.

TH7 War Base Strategy: Stopping 3-Stars Anti-Dragon Setup Dragons are the dominant attack at TH7 war. To stop them, your three Air Defenses need to be in the core of your base, each separated by maximum distance. No two Air Defenses should be reachable in the same Dragon path without significant detour. Surround each Air Defense with low-hitpoint buildings — Barracks, Army Camps, Builder Huts — that slow the Dragons’ approach without providing meaningful targets. The longer it takes Dragons to reach an Air Defense, the more damage that Air Defense deals before going down. Fill your Clan Castle with a Dragon or Valkyrie for defense. A defensive Dragon that triggers mid-attack can completely redirect the attacking Dragon group, breaking the formation and stalling the push long enough for your Air Defenses to eliminate it. Anti-GoWitch Defense GoWitch attacks combine Golems, Witches, and Wizards into a powerful ground army. To counter this, place your Giant Bombs along the most likely ground attack paths — typically the two widest wall sections facing the outside of your base. Use a centralized Barbarian King position. When GoWitch attacks reach the second compartment, the Barbarian King’s Iron Fist ability activates and the surrounding Golems face both the King and your remaining ground defenses simultaneously.

TH7 Farming Base: Protecting Your Resources Dark Elixir Storage Placement TH7 introduces the Dark Elixir Storage, and protecting it immediately becomes your most important farming goal. Place the Dark Elixir Storage in the geometric center of your base — deeper than the Town Hall, deeper than the Gold Storages, and surrounded by your strongest defenses. At TH7, most farming raids use cheap armies like Goblins or Barbarian-Archer combinations. These troops prioritize resources over defenses — if your Dark Elixir Storage requires passing through Mortars, X-Bows, and the Barbarian King, most farming attackers will abandon the attempt. Gold and Elixir Storage Layout Three Gold Storages and three Elixir Storages need distributing at TH7. Place them in separate compartments on opposite sides of the base. Never put two Storages of the same type adjacent to each other — a single Goblin knife attack can loot both in seconds if they share a compartment. A semi-exposed Town Hall works well for farming at TH7. Let attackers take it easily for the shield, keeping your Storages protected inside. You trade trophies for farming time, which is always a good deal when actively upgrading.

5 Recommended TH7 Base Layout Styles

  1. The Anti-Dragon Triangle Base Three Air Defenses in a wide triangle formation covering the full base width. Air Bombs at each Air Defense perimeter. Clan Castle central with a Dragon inside. This layout forces mass Dragon attacks into two-star results consistently and is the strongest TH7 war base style in 2026.
  2. The Centralized Barbarian King Base Barbarian King altar placed exactly in the center, surrounded by all three Mortars and the best Archer Towers. Every attack that reaches the center faces maximum defensive fire and a triggered King simultaneously. Extremely strong against ground attacks.
  3. The Dark Elixir Fortress Dark Elixir Storage buried three compartments deep with the Barbarian King positioned directly adjacent. Air Defenses form the outer defense ring. Attackers who want the Dark Elixir need a near-perfect army and execution — most farmers skip this base entirely.
  4. The Anti-GoWitch Maze Narrow corridors force Golem-Witch combinations to walk single file through Giant Bomb clusters. Mortars positioned at every corridor junction deal splash damage to the Wizard cleanup layer. Ground attacks consistently fail to reach the core intact.
  5. The Trophy Hybrid Base Town Hall in the second ring, protected but not buried. Dark Elixir Storage in the core. Air Defenses spread for air protection. Performs adequately in both war and trophy pushing without specializing too heavily in either direction.

Common TH7 Base Mistakes to Avoid Clustering all three Air Defenses near the Town Hall is the most common TH7 error. It feels logical to protect your most important building, but it makes you completely vulnerable to Dragon attacks from any other direction. Spread them across the full base width. Leaving the Dark Elixir Storage in the outer ring is a mistake that costs thousands of Dark Elixir per day. At TH7, you need Dark Elixir for Barbarian King upgrades above everything else — protect it first, accept Gold and Elixir losses before touching your Dark Elixir. Ignoring Clan Castle troops in defense wastes one of TH7’s most powerful defensive tools. A defensive Dragon or Valkyrie in the Clan Castle frequently turns two-star attacks into one-stars. Keep it filled at all times during war.
