Legend League Guide for Beginners 2026: How to Qualify and Compete

← All Guides

Everything you need to know about Legend League in Clash of Clans — how to qualify, how the system works, and the best strategies to climb and hold trophies.

What Is Legend League?

Legend League is the highest trophy tier in Clash of Clans, starting at 5,000 trophies. Once you enter Legend League, the game changes fundamentally:

  • You receive 8 offensive attacks per day against randomly matched opponents
  • You receive 8 defensive attacks per day from random opponents
  • Your trophy count is adjusted at the end of each day (not in real time)
  • The season resets monthly and top players receive exclusive rewards

Getting to Legend League is a milestone. Staying there requires a consistent daily routine and a base that holds up against the best attackers in the game.

How to Qualify for Legend League

The threshold is 5,000 trophies. To get there:

Recommended minimum: TH12 with near-maxed defenses. Lower Town Hall levels can technically reach Legend League but will struggle to stay there since they face attacks from much higher TH levels.

Optimal entry point: TH13+ with strong heroes (Queen 65+, Warden 40+).

Trophy Pushing Strategy

To climb from Champion League (4,100+) to Legend:

  1. Attack in off-peak hours. Bases replenish shields at predictable times. Attacking during low-activity windows gives you weaker targets.

  2. Use fast-deploying armies. In trophy pushing, speed matters. You need to complete 8 attacks within your window. Super Witch or Dragon armies that deploy quickly let you attack more bases per session.

  3. Target bases 200-400 trophies below yours. These are easier to 3-star and still give meaningful trophy gains.

  4. Never drop your shield. Until you hit 5,000, avoid attacking when your trophy count puts your defense at risk of losing more than you’d gain.

How the Legend League System Works

Once in Legend League, every day follows the same structure:

Daily reset at 0:00 UTC. At reset, your trophy count is finalized and your daily attacks and defenses refresh.

Offense: You have 8 attacks available each day. Each attack you win earns trophies. Missing attacks means leaving trophies on the table.

Defense: Opponents will attack you 8 times per day. You cannot prevent this — your job is to build a base that minimizes stars given and trophies lost.

Net calculation: At end of day, (trophies gained from offense) minus (trophies lost from defense) = your day’s result.

A good Legend League day looks like: 8 attacks with 7-8 three-stars (+180 to +230 trophies) minus 8 defenses losing 2-3 stars on 5-6 of them (-80 to -120 trophies). Net gain: +80 to +150 trophies per day.

Legend League Base Requirements

Your base in Legend League will face attacks from TH12 through TH16 players. The base needs to:

Force 2-stars. A base that consistently surrenders 2 stars instead of 3 will lose significantly fewer trophies per season. Even reducing average stars from 2.8 to 2.4 across 200+ defenses adds up to hundreds of saved trophies.

Protect the Town Hall. In Legend League, protecting the Town Hall has outsized importance — losing 3 stars costs roughly 30 trophies, but losing 2 stars (with TH intact) costs only 14 trophies. A well-buried TH forces attackers into full commitment.

Use anti-3-star design. Legend League bases deliberately sacrifice outer buildings to concentrate defenses around the core. Ring bases and deep-core designs work better here than traditional war bases.

Best Attacks for Legend League

Speed and reliability matter more in Legend League than in Clan War. You’re doing 8 attacks per day — the army needs to:

  • Cook fast (or use Super Troops)
  • Deploy quickly
  • Work against a variety of base layouts

Top Legend League attack strategies:

Super Witch Spam (TH13-16): Fast to deploy, works against most layouts, consistent 3-stars with correct Warden timing.

Root Rider + Super Witch (TH15-16): Wall bypass removes one of the biggest variables in attack success. High consistency.

Yeti Smash (TH12-13): Forgiving execution, good 3-star rate, army cooks reasonably fast.

LaLoon (TH9-11): Classic Legend choice for lower TH levels. Lava Hounds and Balloons are fast to train and very consistent.

Daily Legend League Routine

A typical competitive Legend player follows this routine:

Morning (after reset):

  • Use 4 attacks immediately after reset when many bases have fresh shields
  • Check your defense log — understand what attacks are being used against you and adjust traps

Evening:

  • Use remaining 4 attacks before daily reset
  • Rebuild army in time for next day’s attacks

Base maintenance:

  • Reset all traps after every 8 defenses
  • Adjust Scattershot targeting mode (air vs ground) based on what you’re seeing in your defense log
  • Rotate base layout every 2-3 weeks to prevent your layout from becoming widely shared

Legend League Rewards

At the end of each month, your final trophy count determines your reward tier:

Finish PositionPrimary Reward
Top 1,000Exclusive skin / decoration
Top 10,000Medal rewards + resources
All Legend playersSeasonal medal rewards

Medals can be spent in the Legend League shop for resources, equipment shards, and exclusive items. Competing in Legend League even without finishing top 1,000 is worthwhile purely for the medal economy.

Common Beginner Mistakes in Legend League

Not using all 8 attacks. Every unused attack is free trophies left on the table. Even imperfect attacks that get 1-2 stars still gain trophies. Use all 8.

Attacking too early. New Legend players often attack immediately after qualifying, when their base hasn’t been optimized for Legend League defense. Build and upgrade your base first, then push hard.

Using a war base in Legend. War bases and Legend bases have different design goals. A war base that holds 2 stars in CWL may bleed 3 stars repeatedly in Legend where attackers are higher TH level and better equipped. Use a dedicated Legend base.

Ignoring the defense log. Your 8 daily defenses are free data. Watch every replay. Identify which compartment breaks first, which traps miss, and what attack strategies are targeting you most — then adjust.
