What Is a Queen Walk?
A Queen Walk is an attack technique where you deploy the Archer Queen with 4–5 Healers to create a self-sustaining, nearly unkillable push through one side of the base before your main army deploys.
The Healers continuously regenerate the Queen’s HP faster than defenses can deal damage — as long as the Healers stay alive. This lets the Queen walk deep into a base, destroying critical defenses (Inferno Towers, Eagle Artillery, Scattershots), and clear a path for whatever army follows her.
It sounds complicated. It isn’t — once you understand the three things that make or break it.
The Three Rules of Queen Walk
Rule 1: Healers must stay alive
The Queen is only unkillable while her Healers are healing her. If Healers die, the Queen quickly follows. The two things that kill Healers:
- Air Defenses — Healers are air troops and take massive damage from Air Defenses
- Clan Castle air troops — A Dragon or Electro Dragon from the enemy CC will destroy your Healers instantly
What to do: Before starting the Queen Walk, identify all Air Defenses on the walk side. If any Air Defense covers the walk path, you either need to avoid it, destroy it first, or accept that your Healers will die there. And always lure and kill the CC before walking — never walk into an unlured CC.
Rule 2: Funnel is everything
The Queen follows her targeting logic — she walks toward the nearest building. If there’s nothing funneling her into the base, she walks along the outside edge, destroying cheap outer buildings while the dangerous defenses inside are untouched.
What to do: Before deploying the Queen, place 2–3 troops (Giants, Super Barbarians, or even Wizards) at the corner entry points to eliminate the outer buildings on both sides of her entry angle. This creates a “funnel” that forces the Queen to path inward instead of running along the perimeter.
Rule 3: Activate the ability at the right moment
The Queen’s Royal Cloak makes her invisible for a few seconds and summons Archers. The wrong timing — using it on the outer ring when nothing threatening is happening — wastes it when a single-target Inferno Tower starts burning her down inside the base.
When to activate:
- When a Inferno Tower locks onto the Queen (the flame beam appears on her)
- When Queen HP drops below ~40% inside the base
- When entering the Eagle Artillery or Scattershot range in the core
Setting Up the Walk: Step by Step
Before You Deploy
- Scout the base. Mark all Air Defense positions. Note which side has fewer Air Defenses covering the walk angle.
- Identify the CC. Is it in the center or near the edge? You need to lure it before walking.
- Pick your walk side. Choose the side that lets the Queen reach the highest-value defenses (Infernos, Eagle Artillery, Scattershots) while minimizing Air Defense exposure.
Step 1: Lure the Clan Castle
Drop 1–2 cheap troops (Archers, Goblins) near the CC trigger radius. Once CC troops emerge, kite them to a corner and kill with:
- Your own CC troops (a Witch or Valkyrie handles most CC compositions)
- Poison Spell (drop it immediately when CC troops are grouped)
- A few cheap troops to absorb hits
Never start the Queen Walk while the enemy CC is active.
Step 2: Create the funnel
Deploy 3–4 Super Barbarians or Giants at each corner of your entry angle. They should destroy the 3–5 outer buildings on either side of the Queen’s entry point, creating a clear inward path.
Step 3: Deploy Queen + Healers
Once the funnel is opening:
- Drop the Queen just behind the funnel
- Immediately drop 4 Healers near her (not directly on top — slightly behind so they catch up as she moves)
- The Healers will begin healing her as she enters the base
Step 4: Let her walk
Don’t micromanage. The Queen will path toward the nearest building. Your job is to:
- Watch for Air Defenses she’s approaching (Freeze them if needed)
- Watch her HP — activate Royal Cloak when it drops low inside the base or when she hits a single Inferno
Step 5: Know when she’s done
The Queen Walk typically clears 40–60% of one side of the base. Once she’s destroyed the key defenses on her side (usually 1–2 Infernos, Eagle Artillery, or Scattershots), it’s time to deploy the main army.
Healer Count: 4 vs 5
4 Healers is standard. They provide enough healing output to sustain the Queen against all defenses except a single-target Inferno locked on for a long time.
5 Healers is used when:
- You’re walking into TH13+ bases with max Infernos
- The walk side has unavoidable Air Defense coverage and you expect to lose 1 Healer
- You’re using Common equipment (lower survivability vs. Frozen Arrow)
The housing space cost of a 5th Healer comes from your main army. Most players run 4 Healers and rely on the Royal Cloak ability for the Inferno killzone.
Queen Walk at Every Town Hall Level
TH9 — First Queen Walks
At TH9, Air Defenses are level 5–6 and the Queen is typically level 20–30. Even a modest walk with basic equipment clears one full side of a TH9 base. Pair with a Witch + Bowler push after.
What changes at TH9: No Warden support yet. If the Queen dies, the army that follows has no support hero. Keep walks conservative — don’t push her deeper than you need to.
TH10 — Queen Walk Gets Real
TH10 Air Defenses are level 7 and deal serious damage to Healers. The Eagle Artillery activates early. TH10 is where learning proper funnel and CC-lure habits matters.
Pair the Queen Walk with a Hog Rider push or LaLoon on the opposite side. The Queen clears the Infernos; the main army deals with the Eagle Artillery.
TH11-TH12 — Full Queen Walk
At TH11+ with a level 45–55 Queen, the walk can clear half the base with just 4 Healers. The standard attack is: Queen Walk takes one side, Yeti Smash or Super Witch pushes the other.
TH13+ — Queen Charge
At TH13+, the Queen Walk evolves into a Queen Charge — a faster, more aggressive version where the Queen rushes toward a specific target (Eagle Artillery or Monolith) rather than methodically clearing every building. Queen Charge is faster but requires more precise funnel setup.
Hero Equipment for Queen Walk
Before Legendary equipment:
- Archer Puppet (Common) + Invisibility Vial (Common)
- Archer Puppet summons extra Archers during Royal Cloak — adds cleanup DPS
- Invisibility Vial extends the invisibility window — critical against single Infernos
With Legendary equipment (TH14+):
- Frozen Arrow — Slows the attack speed of defenses the Queen targets. A Queen with Frozen Arrow makes every Air Defense and Inferno she shoots fire slower — dramatically reducing damage to Healers. This is the reason TH14+ Queen Walks are nearly impossible to stop.
- Giant Arrow — Fires a piercing shot that can pre-snipe a Scattershot or Eagle Artillery from range before the walk starts. Changes what “cleaning a side” means.
What to Deploy After the Walk
The Queen Walk creates a cleared lane. Your main army should enter through that same lane — the defenses are down and the path is open.
Common pairings:
| Main Army | Why |
|---|---|
| Yeti Smash | Yetis push through the cleared lane; Warden covers them |
| Hog Rider flood | Queen cleared Infernos; Hogs flow through without dying to single-target |
| Super Witch Spam | Witches flood behind the Queen’s cleared path |
| LaLoon | Queen clears the ground-side; LaLoon handles air side simultaneously |
The golden rule: the main army enters from the same side the Queen cleared. Sending them in from a different direction wastes the lane she opened.
Common Queen Walk Mistakes
Not funneling before deployment. The Queen runs along the base edge, destroying outer walls and collectors while every dangerous defense inside is untouched. Always create the funnel first.
Deploying Healers directly on top of the Queen. Healers placed on top of the Queen often take splash damage together. Spread them slightly behind and around her entry point so they form a loose group, not a stacked cluster.
Walking the Queen into an active Air Defense. Healers have low HP. One max-level Air Defense burns through a Healer in 2–3 seconds. Either Freeze the Air Defense as the Queen approaches, or plan the walk around it.
Leaving the CC unlured. A Clan Castle Dragon or EDrag will kill all 4 Healers in seconds. This is an automatic failed attack. Lure and clear the CC before every single Queen Walk, no exceptions.
Activating Royal Cloak too early. Clicking the ability on the outer ring when HP is still full wastes the invisibility window. Wait until inside the base and facing a real threat.
