TH7 Attack Overview
Town Hall 7 unlocks Dragons — the defining troop of this level. A full army of Dragons with a Rage Spell is the simplest way to 3-star any TH7 base, and it works even with minimal execution skill. TH7 is also where Air Defenses become the central defensive threat, and where your first real Clan War attacks begin.
Three strategies cover everything at TH7: Mass Dragons for easy 3-stars, Giants + Healers for a ground alternative, and Barch for fast resource farming.
Understanding TH7 Defenses
Before picking an attack strategy, know what you’re up against:
Air Defenses (×3): The biggest threat to Dragon attacks. TH7 has three Air Defenses. Two are already present from TH6; the third unlocks at TH7. A Dragon army that walks into all three Air Defenses simultaneously will lose Dragons fast.
Air Sweeper: Pushes air troops back. One Air Sweeper at TH7. Check its direction before deploying — deploy Dragons behind it, not into the wind.
Wizard Towers and Mortars: Ground splash damage. Threats to Giants and Barbarians, not to Dragons.
Clan Castle: Always lure before attacking. A TH7 CC often contains a Dragon, Witch, or Valkyrie that will disrupt your attack if not removed first.
Strategy 1: Mass Dragons (Primary)
The dominant TH7 strategy. High success rate, easy to execute.
Troop Composition
| Troop | Count |
|---|---|
| Dragon | 10–12 |
| Minion | 4–6 (cleanup) |
Spells: Rage × 2, Heal × 1 (or Lightning × 3)
Clan Castle: Dragon or Witch
Air Defense Priority
Before deploying Dragons, identify the three Air Defenses on the map. Two strategies:
Option A — Lightning the strongest Air Defense:
Use 2–3 Lightning Spells to destroy one Air Defense before deploying any Dragons. This reduces anti-air damage by 33% for the whole attack. Best used when one Air Defense is isolated or in a position your Dragons will hit last.
Option B — Rage through all three:
Deploy Dragons in a wide spread across the top or bottom of the base. Place a Rage Spell on the cluster when they approach the Air Defense zone. The Rage boosts damage and HP loss — your Dragons kill the Air Defenses faster than they die.
Execution
- Lure and kill CC. Use a few Barbarians or Archers to kite CC troops out, then kill with CC Witch/Dragon + Lightning.
- Identify Air Sweeper direction. Don’t deploy into it.
- Fan 10–12 Dragons across the entry side in a line — 2–3 tiles apart. Do NOT stack them in one spot.
- Rage Spell when the Dragon cluster approaches the first Air Defense.
- Second Rage if Dragons get slowed fighting through the core.
- Heal Spell on a cluster of Dragons taking heavy fire from a second Air Defense.
- Minions for outer building cleanup after Dragons pass through.
Key principle: Wide fan deployment prevents all Dragons from hitting the same Air Defense at the same time, spreading damage. A column of Dragons die fast.
Strategy 2: Giants + Healers (Ground Alternative)
Useful when the TH7 base has Air Defenses deeply protected and Dragon pathing would be unpredictable.
Troop Composition
| Troop | Count |
|---|---|
| Giant | 12–15 |
| Healer | 3–4 |
| Archer | 30–40 |
| Wall Breaker | 6–8 |
Spells: Rage × 1, Heal × 2
Execution
- Giants + Wall Breakers to breach the first wall layer on the side containing the Air Defenses.
- Healers deployed once Giants are inside — they lock onto Giants and keep them alive.
- Giants tank defenses while Healers regenerate them continuously.
- Archers behind to destroy outer buildings and funnel.
- Heal Spell when Giants drop below 50% HP approaching the core.
Weakness: Doesn’t work if Air Defenses can target Healers before Giants reach them. Check Air Defense range — if they cover the entry point, deploy Giants to draw fire first.
Strategy 3: Barch (Farming Only)
Barch (Barbarians + Archers) is a farming army for resource collection at TH7. It’s not a war strategy, but it’s the most efficient way to fill your storages.
Army: Barbarians × 80, Archers × 80
No spells needed for farming
Deploy Barbarians at the entry point to distract defenses, then fan Archers around the outside to pick off resource buildings. You’re not trying to 3-star — you’re collecting Gold, Elixir, and Dark Elixir from surface-level storages as fast as possible.
TH7 Clan War Tips
Star bonuses come from 3-stars. A 1-star win contributes less to war than a 3-star. Use Mass Dragons in war — don’t use Barch.
Attack bases your TH level or one below. TH7 attacking TH7 with Mass Dragons is reliable. TH7 attacking TH8 is a learning exercise.
Communicate with your clan. If you’re unsure whether to attack a base, ask your leader to call it for you. Don’t leave a war attack until the last hour.
Common TH7 Mistakes
Stacking Dragons in a column. All Air Defenses focus a single target. A column of Dragons acts like one giant HP pool getting shredded by three Air Defenses simultaneously. Fan them wide.
Not luring the CC. A defending Dragon from the CC will pull your Dragons off course and shred several of them. Always lure first — drop a few Barbarians near the CC.
Deploying into the Air Sweeper. The Air Sweeper pushes Dragons back, negating their movement progress for 2–3 seconds per push. Check its direction — always deploy behind it or to the side.
Saving Rage Spell for “the right moment.” At TH7, the right moment is when your Dragons are attacking Air Defenses. Don’t hold it until Dragons are already past the Air Defenses.
